About Weeroona
Weeroona is a community based organisation which is funded through both Home and Community Care and Disability Services to provide a range of flexible, individualised support services to people with a disability and their families within the Gympie Region.
General Service Information
- Individuals and families are welcome to make direct contact with the service. Please ring for an appointment.
- Any person with a disability and their family/carer, living in the Gympie - Cooloola Region and surrounding districts, can register with the service.
- To be eligible for Weeroona’s services, the person’s disability must be due to an intellectual, psychiatric, cognitive, neurological, sensory or physical impairment or a combination of these. It must result in a substantial reduction of the person’s capacity for communication, social interaction, learning, mobility or self-care. The disability must be permanent or likely to be permanent and may or may not be of a chronic episodic nature.
- Pre-arranged support services are available on a 24-hour, seven day a week basis, throughout the Gympie region and surrounding districts.
- Weeroona’s office premises are wheelchair accessible.
- Information and referral to other Government and non-Government agencies is available.
- The current need for services provided by Weeroona is greater than the organisation’s capacity to provide service, so there is a waiting list.
- Any interested person can apply to the Management Committee for membership with Weeroona.
