Creating Autism-Friendly Communities

The ‘Creating Autism-Friendly Communities’ (CAFC) project is an initiative taking the next step in promoting inclusivity in Gympie, Queensland.

Who We Are

Our CAFC team is 100% neurodivergent which means we have built this project through our lived experience and personal understanding. We strive to model inclusivity, respect, and communication that empowers everyone.

What We Do

From peer support and capacity building workshops to neurodiversity awareness training for local businesses, we are changing the narrative from disability to possibility. CAFC are creating communities where differences are understood, strengths are celebrated, and everyone has the opportunity to belong, contribute, and succeed.

How We Are Different

What makes this project different is that it is disability-and co-designed with the neurodivergent community. Through ongoing consultation, feedback, and lived experience, we ensure autistic voices are heard and shape every stage of the project. Together, we explore practical ways to improve communication, reduce barriers and create opportunities for autistic people to thrive.

Autism-Friendly Activities

Our monthly activity calendar has something for everyone! The free, inclusive activities are a perfect opportunity for individuals to develop essential skills, connect with others, and focus on self-advocacy and empowerment - all in a safe and welcoming environment.

Inclusion Training

Inclusivity in the Workplace

We offer free 2-hour professional development sessions to local businesses and community groups. In this training session, we equip workplaces with the knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies to create a more inclusive space for everyone.

Delivered through engaging, co-designed training and accompanied by a handbook full of materials and resources, we help organisations better understand neurodiversity, reduce barriers, and foster workplaces where autistic employees, customers, and the wider community feels welcomed, valued, and supported.

Our VOICE Podcast
